Breathe Like Your Life Depends On It — Because It Does

Anxious thoughts.
A racing heart.
Shallow breathing.
You can’t catch your breath — Have you ever experienced this?

Friend, if that’s ever been you, I want you to know this:

You’re not broken.
And you’re not alone.

You’re just disconnected from one of the most powerful, God-given resources within you: your breath.

I personally know that flooded feeling.
The racing thoughts.
The tight, pounding chest.
The inner dread that seems to whisper doom. 😔

But I also know this:
You can breathe your way back to peace.
You can anchor yourself back to truth.
You can retrain your nervous system — without a prescription.
All it takes is one breath, breathed with hope.
Then another.
Then… a rhythm.

Your breath is God’s built-in rescue line, always with you, always ready.

Your Lungs 🫁 Are a Miracle — Use Them Fully

As a Functional Health/Wellness Practitioner, I’ve seen firsthand how little attention we give to the very thing that sustains our lifeour lungs.

Your lungs are a magnificent,
expandable,
self-cleaning organ system.
But most of us only use a tiny fraction of them.

When you take shallow breaths, you’re only filling the upper tips of your lungs — leaving the rich oxygen exchange in the lower lobes completely untapped.
Did you know this?

This isn’t just about anxiety —
it’s about energy,
immune strength,
mental clarity,
and whole-body regulation.

Deep, intentional breathing activates your parasympathetic nervous system — the “rest and restore” side — gently signaling to your body:

You’re safe. You can calm down now. 💗🕊️

And here’s the beautiful part…

You can teach your children and grandchildren to do this too.
Imagine them learning and understanding God’s gift of their very own breath — how to self-soothe and find peace from within.
How empowering is that?

It’s truly amazing how much our bodies do for us — especially when we
slow down,
tune in,
and begin to understand just how magnificent and intelligent they really are. 🌿

Scattered to Centered: Here’s How

Ok, let’s do this!  Let’s shift from anxious, shallow breathing to full mind-body peace using these simple rhythms.

1. Box Breathing (4-4-4-4)

A Navy SEAL technique that quiets stress in seconds.

🟠How to do it:

  • Inhale through your nose for 4 counts
  • Hold for 4
  • Exhale slowly through your nose for 4
  • Hold for 4
Repeat 4 rounds. Feel yourself drop into the moment.

2. Straw Breathing (8-8)

This is my favorite for nighttime — and for moving away from anxious moments into a peaceful, calming mindset during the day.

🟠How to do it:

  • Inhale deeply through your nose for a slow count of 8
  • Then, purse your lips like you’re breathing through a straw
  • Exhale slowly for 8 counts through that “straw”
    Repeat for 1–2 minutes.
    Notice how your shoulders drop.
    Your heart rate slows.
    Your mind clears.

BONUS TIP: Try this in bed at night. It helps your body transition into deep sleep mode. 😴 Yes, it really works! — Try it and repeat until it’s so familiar it becomes automatic.

Know that God designed you to live in grace and rhythm — not in rush, anxiety, or fear.

My Heart Is for You

As an experienced nurse with a BSN from Ohio State, a Certified Holistic Wellness Practitioner and Health Coach — and, as “Mama” and “Mimi” to nineprecious grandbabies— my heart is for you.

Yes, you Lisa — the strong yet tender soul who nurtures life, speaks truth, and fights for what’s broken to be made whole again.

Because true health isn’t just about symptoms…

It’s about every cell, every system, every belief aligning with God’s truth, design, and love.

This is my calling — to help women (and men too) reconnect with their magnificent body, restore what’s been neglected, and remember who they are. 💃💐

My journey didn’t start in a classroom — though I’m a proud nurse from The Ohio State University. It started in the ache of watching my only sister fade away to schizophrenia. In the heartbreak of losing my only brother — twice. Once to addiction, and again to leukemia after donating my bone marrow. This started my relentless search for wholeness, health and vitality.

What I found is this: Our bodies were magnificently designed by God. They are intelligent, responsive, and wise. And if we treat them with honor, they respond with vitality.

And… I’d be honored — to help you. 💗
